Shine On Chinook Update!!
We are in the final stretch of our only fundraiser! We are currently at 95% of our $52,000 goal! As we are so close to reaching our goal, we will extend our final date to this Friday, November 8th. If we can reach our goal this week, we will also have an all-student celebration!! We've also been giving away weekly winners to our students and of course, in December we will do the drawing for all who participated to win a catered lunch, dessert package, movie night package and more!!
We have one more week to get to our goal. Please remember no donation is too small and your support for our PTSA is needed and appreciated!! Thank you to all those who donated to get us this close....I know we can get across that finish line! Click on the links above to donate today!!
REFLECTIONS
"Accepting Imperfection"
Due November 20th
Our Reflections program is currently accepting submissions. This is a national program, and we strongly encourage our students to participate. Reflections is a wonderful avenue for our creative kids to express themselves through dance, photography, digital art, creative writing and more. Not only is it rewarding in its own right, but also a chance to build up their portfolio and achievements for those wishing to pursue the arts after high school. This is a low risk but high reward opportunity and it would be so exciting to have your student's work showcased!! Please contact Chelsea at Reflections@chinookptsa.org.
Volunteer Needs this Week
Wed-Fri
We have a special request for volunteers this week to assist in our "Attitude for Gratitude" fall project. If you have time during the day this week to assist, it would be greatly appreciated. You'll be helping in decorating some of our hallways. See our page for more details or click here for the sign up!
Lost and Found Overflowing!
Our Lost and Found is filled with forgotten items! We have a large collection of coats, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunch containers waiting to be claimed. Please remind your student to check for any missing belongings. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the month. Let's help these items find their way back home!

In Case You Missed It
Book eFair
I’m excited to announce that our school is hosting a Follett Book eFair, Kodiak Super Reads Book eFair! From November 1st – 30th, you can shop online for your home library while supporting Chinook’s library. Your student will receive a flyer by end of this week; ask them for it!
To browse titles and purchase books, visit book-efairs.follettcontent.com and enter our Book eFair Code in the box on the left side: M54LZ
Here are the details:
- A Follett Book eFair is an online only book fair. Our goal is to total sales of $1,500 and above.
- After you browse and shop online, the books ship to our school for free when the online book fair ends. It’s so easy! Books purchased should arrive well before Winter Break.
- For every dollar our Book eFair earns, our school receives 20% back as a credit. We can use this credit to purchase books and resources to enhance our school library.
- Students can create a Wish List to share with family and friends. This is a great way to ensure they get the books they want!
- You’ll find a wide range of titles at affordable prices, from new releases to popular fiction and nonfiction. Be sure to also check out the Mega Sale section!
- Anyone can support our Book eFair. Share staff and student Wish Lists with your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. They can also purchase Follett Book eFair eGift Cards to gift to your student(s), donate to the school, or support students who might not otherwise be able to purchase new books.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We’re very excited about this opportunity. Thank you in advance for supporting the students and staff at Chinook Middle School.
Sincerely,
Ms. Kawaguchi
Library Specialist
P.S. All sales benefit our school, so please help us spread the word! If you or a local business would like to support our online book fair through a donation or purchase of an eGift card.
How to Know When you Are Too Sick for School
As we enter the time of year when colds and fevers tend to appear unexpectedly, the Bellevue School District wants to remind families of some important guidelines regarding when students should stay home from school. Students experiencing certain illnesses may be required to stay home to rest and recover.
The Bellevue School District's nurses and attendance team have provided helpful guidance on which symptoms indicate a student should remain at home and when they may safely return to school. Keeping sick students at home, along with encouraging regular handwashing, helps protect everyone—especially those with fragile immune systems or acute medical conditions. Learn more on the Too Sick for School webpage.
Fall Panorama Survey
Chinook students will complete the Fall 2024 Panorama Student Survey on November 8 in their Social Studies class. The purpose of the survey is to gather valuable insights into students' experiences and to further support their growth and well-being. The survey will focus on several key areas, including school climate, sense of belonging, and social-emotional learning (SEL), offering students an opportunity to share their perspectives. Learn more on the Panorama Surveys webpage on the district website.
