Greetings Chinook Middle School Community,

This month, we’re embracing an attitude of gratitude with a fun activity for everyone! Scattered throughout the building, students can find Gratitude Turkeys, each with its own Turkey Challenge. These challenges are simple ways to practice gratitude and brighten someone’s day.

Students who complete a challenge can turn in their name at the boxes by the Jubilee window. Every Friday, we’ll draw names from those submissions for a special prize!

Let’s make gratitude a daily habit and celebrate the power of kindness in our Chinook community!

In gratitude and partnership,

James Peterson

In Case You Missed It

Test of BSD’s Emergency Communication System

On Wednesday, November 20 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., the district will conduct a test of our emergency communication system, SchoolMessenger. BSD families will receive a phone call, text message and email to the primary contact information they have provided in ParentVUE — which families are asked to verify at the beginning of every school year. The purpose of this test is to ensure that BSD families are able to receive district messages in the event of school delays, closures or emergencies.

Learn more about the test and receive tips for receiving district messages via phone call, text message and email.

  • Each school will host an open house during the Open Transfer and Choice School/Program application period.
  • Families are invited to the Language Programs Fair on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, to learn more about the variety of language offerings available for students.
  • Families with students between the ages of three to age five are invited to attend a Preschool Information Session on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, or Thursday, December 5, 2024.

For all open house and information session dates, times and locations please view the district calendar.

More information will be shared with families and staff in the next few weeks regarding the transfer and application process, including through direct messages and on school and district websites.

REFLECTIONS

"Accepting Imperfection"

Due November 20th

Our Reflections program is currently accepting submissions. This is a national program, and we strongly encourage our students to participate. Reflections is a wonderful avenue for our creative kids to express themselves through dance, photography, digital art, creative writing and more. Not only is it rewarding in its own right, but also a chance to build up their portfolio and achievements for those wishing to pursue the arts after high school. This is a low risk but high reward opportunity and it would be so exciting to have your student's work showcased!! Please contact Chelsea at Reflections@chinookptsa.org.
